TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Honar and Andisheh Music Institute will be playing host to workshops given by Indian sarod performer Rajeeb Chakraborty on June 18 and 19.

Raga, one of the melodic formulas of Hindu music, will be discussed during the workshops, which have been organized by the institute and the Rojan Art Center.
He is also scheduled to talk about tala, a repeated rhythmic pattern of stressed and unstressed beats played on a percussion instrument in Indian music.
Chakraborty is a guest performer of the Dastan Ensemble, an Iranian traditional music band, which is led by vocalist Salar Aqili.
He accompanied Dastan in its European concert tour, “In the Name of the Red Rose” in 2010.
